At a glance
Photo sorting happens on your device. We do not upload your photo library or sorting history. Advertising services handle some device and usage data separately, as explained below.

What Photo Cleaner does
Photo Cleaner helps you review photos on your Android device one month at a time. You decide which photos to keep or mark for removal, review your choices, and explicitly confirm permanent deletion. Android may additionally request permission or deletion approval depending on the system version.
Photo access and local processing
With your permission, Photo Cleaner reads accessible photos and metadata such as their name, date, file size, dimensions, and media identifier to display previews, organize months, and remember your decisions. Supported Android versions let you grant access to selected photos instead of your full library. The app then shows only the accessible photos. You can change or revoke access in Android settings. Older Android versions use storage permission to read photos. On Android 8.1–9, storage write permission is also required to delete selected photos; the app uses it only for photo management.
Photo details can display the file name, storage folder, size, dates, dimensions, camera and GPS coordinates saved in a photo. On supported Android versions, reading saved GPS coordinates requires optional photo-location permission. This is requested only when you choose to show a photo’s location. We do not retrieve your current device location, upload coordinates, or send them to a map or geocoding service.
Photos and metadata are processed on your device. Photo Cleaner does not upload photos, use a remote photo-processing service, access videos, or request your device’s current location, contacts, or all-files access. We do not receive your photos or review history and do not send them to advertising services. If you use Share, only the photo you choose is passed to the app you select; that app handles it under its own policies. No Photo Cleaner account is required.
Advertising and privacy choices
Photo Cleaner uses Google AdMob for full-screen ads after eligible completed cleanups. The first two eligible cleanups in each app process session do not show an interstitial ad. Ads do not control whether your photos are deleted, and an unavailable ad is skipped. We do not pass photos, saved photo locations, folder names, review decisions or deletion results to AdMob.
The Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and share IP addresses (which can indicate approximate location), device and account identifiers, advertising interactions, and diagnostic information for advertising, measurement and fraud prevention. These network transfers are separate from on-device photo processing. See Google’s Privacy Policy and Google advertising information.
Where required, Google’s consent form asks for your advertising privacy choices. When applicable, use “Ad privacy choices” in app settings to change them. You can also manage your advertising ID in Android settings. Ads are requested only when the consent SDK permits requests; choosing an available privacy option does not prevent photo cleanup. Google controls retention of advertising data under its policies.
Diagnostics and third-party services
Photo Cleaner does not include Firebase Analytics or Firebase Crashlytics. Google Mobile Ads may still handle app and SDK performance information, such as launch timing and responsiveness, together with app or ad interactions and identifiers. This helps Google operate, measure and protect its advertising services; it does not give Google access to your photo library or sorting records through Photo Cleaner.
For details, see Google Mobile Ads data disclosures and AdMob’s privacy information. These services have their own data handling policies. Device identifiers and IP addresses can be personal data even when they do not include your name.
Protecting your information
Photo Cleaner keeps its sorting records in Android’s app-private storage, disables app data backup and device transfer, and disallows cleartext network traffic. Google documents that Mobile Ads data is encrypted in transit using TLS. These safeguards reduce exposure, but no device, transmission or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure.
You control photo access through Android permissions. If you share a photo or send a support email, the receiving app or email provider handles that information under its own policies. Please avoid sending passwords, identity documents or unrelated private photos to support.
Local storage and retention
Review decisions, in-app favorite markers, and photo identifiers are stored in the app's private local database. Reminder preferences, in-progress deletion requests, and per-photo deletion results may also be stored locally to handle interruptions. A capped cleanup count and the last counted cleanup ID are kept only in memory to apply the first-two-cleanups rule and prevent duplicate counting during the current app session. They reset when the app process restarts and are not saved to disk. Sound and rating preferences are also stored locally. Previews may be held in memory. App data backup and device transfer are disabled.
Local records remain until reset, cleared, or uninstalled. “Reset review progress” removes review decisions and in-app favorite markers; it does not delete original photos or restore deleted photos. Android's app settings let you clear all app data, and uninstalling removes the app's local data. Some records may remain locally for photos that are no longer accessible, until you reset or clear app data.
Deleting photos
Swiping to remove only marks a photo. Photo Cleaner requests deletion only after you review and confirm your choices. On Android 11 and later, Android asks for batch deletion approval. On Android 10, Android may ask for each photo separately. On Android 8.1–9, there is no additional system deletion dialog after the app's confirmation and storage permission. Canceling a partially completed operation does not restore photos already deleted. Permanent deletion may not be recoverable. The app does not promise deletion from a cloud backup or another provider's services; any synchronization is controlled by those services.
Optional reminders
You can enable or disable monthly reminders in settings. Notification permission is requested when needed. Reminders are scheduled locally and may be delayed by Android's battery management. No photo scanning or network request is needed to send a reminder.
External links and contacting us
The rating button opens Google Play or a browser. The public privacy policy opens in a browser. Those services operate under their own policies. If you choose to email us, we receive the information you include and use it to respond and resolve your request. Do not include private photos unless necessary. We retain support correspondence only as needed to handle the request and meet applicable obligations; you may contact us to request deletion.
Changes and questions
We will update this policy if the app's data practices change and revise the effective date. For questions or requests, contact cleanmaxdev@gmail.com.
